Salvation Messenger
Patrick Mthanyana was born in Cape Town but grew up in the village of Qumbu-Thwa in the Transkei. His family was very poor and medical treatment was scarce, and at the age of 4 he was blinded by a bout of measles. This, however, didn’t dim his enthusiasm for life and he developed a love of music. Patrick started out singing traditional songs, but was introduced to Gospel music in his late teens, and it is this that has developed into his passion has helped him get where he is today. In November 2004, he was introduced to Mohamed Fall of Vibrations Studio, by a mutual friend, Mathanzima Baleni. They both realized the great potential in this man, who had a long time dream of recording a Gospel album. Patrick had recently formed a new group which he named the Salvation Messengers, comprising five talented young musicians from his neighborhood and working with Mohamed they recorded an album entitled “Patrick and the Salvation Messengers” which has been released under the Vibrations Recording Studio label. Patrick is quoted as saying, “Music is the food of my life, and it gives me inner peace”. He has a spiritual vision and intends reaching as many people as possible with his music. He is a shining example to all that we have the power to turn our lives around, even in the midst of extreme hardships.
