SAMSARA is releasing "Heart Set On Fire" Independently on CD baby. A 7 song LP produced by Kevin Jardine of Slaves on Dope reknown. Featuring Peter Tzaferis from Slaves on Dope and April Hate (Tribute to Nirvana) on drums.
Kevin is a producer/songwriter and has had a 20+ year career with his band Slaves on Dope, touring the USA, Canada and Europe and amassing over 100k of records sold. This also includes three worldwide record deals with Divine Recordings (Priority Records), MCA Records, Rocket Science and currently The ILS Group. He has worked with Grammy and Juno award winning artists in his studio in Montreal along with having radio singles chart in both Canada and the US of A. Kevin has worked with some of the best in the music business such as Sharon Osbourne, Thom Panunzio (Geffen Records), Arnold Lanni (producer), Troy Van Leeuwen (QOTSA/producer) and Jason Bieler (producer).
On this album, Samsara will have Jean-Francois Macé play through a custom made Vincent Latulippe Telecaster with a JB at bridge playing though a Orange Rockerverb 50 MKII on rythme. A Gibson SG Special with a DiMarzio Super Distortion (think Ace Frehley) through a Soldano is used on leads. A Gibson Hummingbird for acoustic tracks. Dave Bielik's bass is recorded with a 1980's Fender Precision through an Ampeg amp. Todd Pronovost's voice was recorded on top notch vintage 70's equipement.
Songs are deep and intropective and take a great snapshot of today's world.
SamSara is an Canadian alternative rock band formed in Montreal, Quebec in 1996. The band's original line-up featured lead singer Todd Andrew Pronovost, guitarist Jean-Francois Macé, bassist Francis Roy and percussionist Danny Figueredo. After breaking up in 1998, SamSara reunited in 2010, with Roy declining to participate after the reunion concert at Pirhana Bar on Ste-Catherine's street.
SamSara was one of the bands that participated in giving a reputation to Montreal's "The Plateau" artistic culture of the late 90's.
Formation and SamSara (1996–1998)
SamSara formed out of the remains of guitarist Jean Francois Macé's previous band, The Souls. In mid-1996, Macé was searching for a new vocalist for the faltering The Souls and put an ad in the local community paper when he was contacted by Todd Andrew Pronovost. Pronovost (born 09 November 1970) is an Canadian singer-songwriter and left-wing activist. His music blends elements of folk music, punk rock and protest songs, and his lyrics mostly deal with political, social or romantic themes. Macé and Pronovost bonded over a mutual appreciation for Joy Division and New Model Army and began to practice together with the ex members of the souls at La Cité 2000 close to the Molson Brewery on the side of the St-Laurent River. The new band was dubbed "Samsara" . In 1997 Francis Roy left the band. In its early incarnation, SamSara went through two bass players and featured Stéphane Mallette on bass in 1997-98.
SamSara played regularily in 1997-98 on the Plateau Mont-Royal club scene, primarily at Jailhouse Rock on Mont-Royal.

À la mi-1996, Macé a été la recherche d'un nouveau chanteur pour le groupe et a mis une annonce dans le journal de la communauté locale quand il a été contacté par Todd Andrew Pronovost. Pronovost (né 09 Novembre 1970) est un chanteur-compositeur-interprète et gauche militante canadienne. Sa musique mêle des éléments de la musique folklorique, punk rock et des chansons de protestation, et ses paroles traitent principalement avec des thèmes politiques, sociaux ou romantiques. Macé et Pronovost liés sur une appréciation mutuelle de Joy Division et New Model Army et ont commencé à pratiquer avec les anciens membres de The Souls a la La Cité 2000 à proximité de la brasserie Molson sur le côté de la rivière St-Laurent. Le nouveau groupe a été surnommé "Samsara"
