One year, one album. The Annual 2013.
One of Electronic music’s most beloved brands, Ministry of Sound, released its yearly compilation album The Annual 2013 last week. For those with a fervor for big room Progressive anthems, this is for you. The album walks us through the biggest tracks of 2012, as EDM took the world by storm in what is arguably the biggest year the genre has experienced in a long time catering to a mass market. Ever since Ministry of Sound’s advent in 1995, this well established series has celebrated the year’s biggest club hits and essential future anthems for the upcoming year on one album. Apart from the success of dance music over the past year, Ministry of Sound also charted its most successful year to date with its signees rising Electro star Porter Robinson, the multi-talented singer/producer Example and Drum & Bass maestro DJ Fresh.
With the year’s end nearing, let Ministry of Sound’s 26-track compilation help you relive the best moments. The Annual 2013 features music from some of the genre’s most prolific artists such as Avicii, Zedd, Steve Angello, Ti?sto, Nicky Romero, Arty, Thomas Gold and Laidback Luke. Interestingly, Ministry of Sound also throws in a couple Pop tracks from the likes of Lady GaGa and Jessie J… I guess they are making dance music too when it all comes down to it. Lesser known artists like Basto!, Starkillers, Julian Jordan, Swanky Tunes and Hard Rock Sofa are also deservingly featured on the album, with some of the most powerful dance tracks of the year.
Despite its being frowned upon by many, what would a predominantly Progressive House, year in wrap compilation be without Gotye 'Somebody That I Used To Know' (Tiesto Remix).. We heard it here and there, and everywhere, but before turning our backs on it, we all had a hands in the air moment in 2012 with the track as our backdrop.
