从小我就被灌输了天堂的概念。在一个被许多人称为天堂等同物的小岛（夏威夷）上长大，我理解我的天堂必须是完美的，是一种没有负面因素的自然幸福的集合体。这种概念让我希望有一天我也能到达自己的“天堂”——就像我的家一样：一个充满理想且不被束缚的地方。

像许多人一样，我也一直在追逐天堂的想法，无论是为了最终实现我的职业目标而努力工作，还是为了最终能在我心中定义的天堂中安顿下来。然而，我从未预料到，当我到达目的地后，它会与我的期望不同。正如那句谚语“即使是天堂也会下雨”一样：我相信这是每个人都会忽略的有关“完美”的一面。尽管这与“完美”一词的定义相矛盾，但我相信现实中几乎不存在真正的完美。是的，“天堂”可以是美好的，但它也可以有阴云密布的日子。或许“天堂”和“完美”这些词在某种程度上只是人们思想中的抽象概念，随着时间的推移，人们的想法和偏好可能会改变。

我希望通过这部作品，能表达出我对曾以为的“天堂”实际上体会到的截然不同的感受。或许从小我就不该追逐“天堂”，或许我早该知道，“天堂”既可以很美丽，但也可能只是一场美丽的谎言。

From a young age, I was introduced to the concept of paradise. Growing up on an island where many say is the equivalent, I had an understanding that my paradise had to be perfect, a natural bliss exempt of the negatives. It made me hope that maybe one day I too could reach my own paradise, similar to my home, being ideal and free from, I guess the opposite. Like many, I as well have been chasing the idea of paradise, whether that was to work hard to eventually achieve my career goal, or to hopefully settle down in my own definition of a paradise. But I never foresaw that after reaching my destination, it would be different from my expectations. Alike the saying “even paradise rains” I believe this is an aspect of perfection that everyone forgets. Although it’s contradictory to the definition of the word, I believe that in reality perfection rarely exists. Yes, a paradise can be nice, but it can also have its cloudy days. Maybe the words paradise and perfection are arbitrary to ones thinking it, but over time people can change and their preferences can alter. I hope that through this body of work, I’m able to express my feeling towards what I thought was my paradise turning out to be completely different. Maybe from a young age I shouldn’t have chased paradise. Maybe I should’ve known that paradise can be beautiful, but pretty lies.
