Gettin' Ready
Unity started with a local family group from Bluffton, Indiana called “The Shane Family Quartet”. In 1993 their children, three brothers (Rick, Jeff, and Mike Shane) and their first cousin (David Barcus) formed a Southern Gospel Quartet. They started singing locally but as word got out the bookings spread regionally.
For 9 years the personnel stayed the same. In that time the group had the opportunity to put out 3 recordings, sing across 4 states, and even open a Christmas concert for Glen Campbell at Taylor University of Fort Wayne.
The group became a trio when Rick started traveling with another group full time. A couple of years later Rick returned and Unity was once again a quartet. However, the four wouldn’t stay together long. David left to pursue other ministry opportunities.
In the fall of 2005, Paul Wickey joined the group to sing tenor and Mike moved to the lead spot. Moving Mike’s strong voice to lead with Paul’s high tenor voice gave Unity a new yet traditional Southern Gospel sound. They bring a sound and spirit that touches all. They were in Gaither Studio in January of 2008 recording their fifth CD which was produced by singer/songwriter, Woody Wright. These guys love the Lord and love sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
