Ferocity is meant to be both an experiment and a challenge in contemporary modern metal. Guitar riffs inspired by old-school British heavy metal and progressive rock, driving, high-energy drumming, and grooving, solid bass are what comprise the foundation of the album. Rhythms derived from extreme progressive artists, a largely layered, dark sound scape, and unexpected melodies add complexity and depth to the album that evokes a range of emotion seldom found in the genre. The vocal style ranges from a powerful, melodic "classic" heavy metal tone, to softer, dark harmonies, to full-bore aggression. The resulting sound is a thick, dark, melodic metal sound with a progressive edge that resonates with fans of hard rock to death metal all around.
