In this record the main reference to highlight is the continuity of the excellence of the work done in Kismet. That is, Rockslinger is a record of Rock that knows no borders or boundaries. A record that can be true heavy metal, aggressive, daredevil, and also fragile, uncovered and intimate, while it drinks from gothic rock and prog metal musical references. That turns out to be a feature that PhaZer carry from the previous album and reinforce it on Rockslinger.

The best tribute that can be made on Rockslinger and PhaZer is that no one ever knows how will sound the next song. In this particular case, I've Been Shot superbly opens Rockslinger, a song with dark and gothic trends and closes with Lil' Devil, a cover of the legendary The Cult, a name that remains present in the band's influences.
