Multi Kulti Electronics

Multi Kulti Electronics Compilation marks the 16th release for Bolivian independent local label, San Pedro Music. On this venture, Paul Jove, wanted to gather some contemporary local producers as well as a couple of international guests to give colour of sound-genre to the label as he believes it's healthy to venture out of the 'comfort zone' yet keep with the same vibration/signature of the label. In a world where our attention span is getting shorter by the moment, SPM keeps the focus on the essence of the music and asks you to be patient when listening to appreciate each effort the artists are making.

Things kick off with Saigon's up and coming electronic superstar, B.A.X from Heart Beat Electronic collective. He delivers a nice smooth entrance with a classic chill out sound taking us to parts of the Mekong river and letting us feel that monsoon rainy season that so often happens where he is from. Parallel to his electronic music activity, B.A.X. composes various soundtracks for visual films. Up next are a couple of daring and experimental producers, Alejandro Cassis and Andrés Jordan. Cassis has also released on the label before with his other side project Nemillay. This time around he joins forces with Jordan as Thalamus to deliver what you would call an experimental house groove with many sci-fi sounds. Third song on the release comes from Random Is Not Whatever boss, André de Oliveira (Bandhu). This song is definitely one that is very original in the sense of melting a bolivian folkloric rhythm (Chacarera) with a deep-melodic electronica sound. The result is 'Beginning to understand'; a composition that merits many plays and will surely be repeating in your head for a while. It's always nice to have an interlude when keeping to a, now considered, old school concept release. What better way than to venture out into some synthesis with Paul Jove's Interlude. It makes way for 'After the break' by JoC H who has been making quite of bit of noise in the techno/progressive scene in the last year having released on various important labels; this time around when asked to go out of HIS comfort zone he proposed this groovy/simple liquid dnb tune which fits perfect with the release. Song #6 comes from a very talented Venezuelan composer/producer, Op3rador, who has been residing in La Paz for a few years now. (((El vengador infantil))) Él vive arriba de la montaña has a hint of that venezuelan gozadera sound which sure spunks up the latin flavour in all of us and kinda marks the 1st half of the compilation….turn it up! Ametrino's 'Squirrles and birds' kicks off the second half of the compilation with a very smooth and funky bass (courtesy of local bass hero, Peque Gutierrez). Ametrino has released a very neo-folk marking EP at the end of 2016 on his Tao Music label which is definitely one for the books, check it out. Label boss Paul Jove visits his trip hop era and delivers a very simple-funky-easy going tune with a few words referencing to his comparison of life equals a taste of salt and chocolate….a bit of depth and trip but mainly a good time tune. Erofex is no stranger to the land of bolivian electronic music, perhaps he is probably the 1st one to do it having released since the late 90's. On this occasion, he proposed this super well-made tune that is a hybrid of psy-chill out mixed with a downtempo feel keeping true to his signature style and of course maintaining a pristine quality mix - another one that will be bouncing in your head for a while. We're getting towards the end of the concept and what better way to ease and slow down than to listen to Zelma Varga's voice on her tune 'Khan' which has been selected from her long play release: 'MicroKosmos'. Etno-acoustic and flying subtle effects here and there courtesy of her friend Daniel 'Ruso'; be sure to check out pleny of more material from her on her website. Finally we do a nice close with a psy duo who where asked to propose a tune out of THEIR comfort zone and 'Viento de cristal' was the result. A song that pays homage to the Pachamama (mother earth) in a more ritualistic sound escape….some abstract synths and beats that push your limits but keep you focused on the composition as a whole; be patient and then press repeat :)
