Roots and Branches
Roots and Branches combines musical influences from around the world with High Elevation Sound Flavor to create a unique musical experience intended to connect people with one another.
Guitar, bass, keyboards, Native flute, drums and hip-hop based percussion provide graceful upbeat sounds for lyrics about peace and freedom during a time of war, greed, and environmental threats.
We are hoping to share a pure positive self expression that connects and uplifts people, says Hunter E. RedDay, Dine.
Like a tree with branches of musical vibes, Summit Dub Squad mixes and mashes reggae, dub, hip hop, funk, folk, punk, rock, Ska, African roots music, Brazilian samba tunes and indigenous sounds.
The new release is named Roots & Branches because, the band is branching out to the four directions of the earth knowing we all come from the same tree we are all inner connected with our own branch, RedDay says. This CD is very crucial to the times we live in because it highlights many sounds from around the world and helps increase an understanding of other cultures.
The Branches also included inviting some of Flagstaff's most talented and tenacious musical artists to add their creativity to the mix - in true "Squadron" style! Having the guests come into the studio to record was incredibly great fun, and the album really benefits from the collaborations. The album again takes the listener on a journey in sound, and like the debut album, High Elevation Sound Flavor, there is no one genre classification that can contain the Summit Dub sound. Elements of reggae, dub, dancehall, hiphop, funk, folk, ska, rock, jungle, and, yeppers, even a little samba,
all come together on Roots and Branches.
