Work on the Beachfire EP began almost two years ago with the creation of the original demo of 'Waking Up'. At this time, DEVU was an entirely solo project, without much direction. This changed when Phil, whom David met in the UK tech metal scene via Phil's old band Orion, sang on another DEVU track, 'Miles Away' (https://soundcloud.com/devusound/miles-away).

Because of the support this received, DEVU became a full-time endeavour and the duo continued to work on new material, finally culminating in this release. Cellist Zsolt Gulyas and violinist Ryan Everett joined to provide heartfelt performances on Open Skies, Go To Sleep and You And Me Against The World and Robert Booth was kind enough to fulfill mastering duties.

There are plans afoot for a full length release and possible live performances.
