Ambivalence
RAW, HONEST, RHYTHMIC MUSIC THAT HITS CLOSE TO HOME.
the local began in West Palm Beach, Florida as Daniel Kiedis and Jason McDonell combined forces with friend and drummer Lukas Schartner. In November 2004 the band expanded to include Susan Sherouse (currently touring with Dashboard Confessional, and John Ralston) on violin. August of 2005 marked the release of their first full length project, "Ambivalence."
As the title suggests, their songs are strung together like stories of a grade school student boasting about scars during show and tell. Each story is woven with strands of opposite emotions such that the reminder of pain exists simultaneously with the joy of seeing that pain from another vantage point. the local proves to be a promising up-and-coming band with a strong and loyal following. With a healthy mix of thoughtful lyrics, warm melodies and dynamic instrumentation, they boasts like children who find that hope can exist despite circumstance.
