TY STEPHENS is the Grand Prize Winner Jazzmobile/Anheuser-Busch Solo Jazz Vocalist Competition, NYC, 2006, and Winner First Place R&B/Blues Category of the International Songwriting Competition 2002, for "Somethin’ Strange". Among many recordings, he is Guest Vocalist, alongside Sax Legend Houston Person, on a jazz disc from bassist Jon Burr, "Just Can’t Wait". Spring 2010, Ty joined with vocalists from Broadway's The Lion King singing on the recording of the Soundtrack for the World Cup. He has performed/appeared with: Harry Belafonte, Gregory Hines, Phyllis Hyman, Japanese Superstar Toshi Kubota, Patti Austin, Jeffrey Osborne, Phoebe Snow, Smokey Robinson, Jon Hendricks; at Carnegie Hall with Liza Minnelli, Natalie Cole, (Laurie Strauss Leukemia Foundation Benefits); Ledisi, Savion Glover, and more; Guest vocalist with Sax great Igor Butman’s Big Band in Moscow, Russia; Frequent Guest Artist with Russian drummer Oleg Butman's jazz trio throughout Russia. Ty's original recordings include "Aquarian Mind", "Deeper In Fantasy" and "Musichameleon".
TY STEPHENS & SOULJAAZZ have had the pleasure and honor of sharing the stage with some of the biggest Stars in the business, beginning with Angela Bofill, Vanessa Rubin and Larry Coryell. Most notably, since 2008, they have served as the Opening Band (the Sporting Orchestra) at the World-Famous SPORTING CLUB in Monte Carlo, where they have opened for Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Alicia Keys, Diana Ross, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Julio Iglesias, Al Jarreau, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Steely Dan, George Benson and Strings, Grace Jones, Seal, Joe Cocker, Gino Vanelli, Michael Franks, Charles Aznavour, Opera Diva Jessye Norman, Moby, Duffy, Lenny Kravitz, Leonard Cohen, Simply Red, French Superstar Johnny Halliday, Lilly Allen, Chicago, Richie Havens, Macy Gray, Jamie Cullum, Brazilian Legends Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, and many more! The band returns to the Sporting Festival 2012 for a 5th season!

Composer/Arranger/Conductor Richard Cummings, Jr, on Piano, was musical director for the legendary Harry Belafonte for nearly 2 decades, and has performed and recorded with Mr Belafonte, as well as Diane Reeves, Letta Mbulu, Hugh Masakela, Wayne Shorter, Zubin Meta, Jon Lucien, among others. Bassist Ron "Rondew" Monroe, served as Associate Producer on Ty Stephens’ "Aquarian Mind" CD (2006), and has performed/recorded with, among others, Pharoah Sanders, Chico Hamilton, George Benson, Tito Puente, Jimmy Witherspoon, Dave Koz, and Roy Ayers. Drummer Tony Lewis’ credits include performance/recording with B.B. King, Little Richard, Sting, Vernon Reid, Nancy Wilson, Sam Moore (of Sam & Dave), and Richard Street’s Temptations. Guitarist Robert "R.T." Taylor has recorded/performed with Beyonce, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Janet Jackson, LL Cool J, Juels Santana, Robert Palmer, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Billy Preston, Eddie Kendricks (Temptations) and McPadden & Whitehead, among others.
