Patrick is the front man for the Halifax Folk Rock group Patrick Murray & The Contenders, which was formed in 2012. The formation of “The Contenders” was started because Patrick loved that the full Band sound. He is originally from Saint John, New Brunswick and spent his childhood singing in the Rotary Boys Choir and in his church choir at St John & St Stephen Presbyterian Church. It wasn’t until a government sponsored writers weekend in high school that he started writing poetry which turned into song writing in 1993. That same year he picked up his first guitar while working in Victoria, B.C. and quickly feel in love with both.

Patrick has an extensive knowledge of different cultures and people after travelling the world with his job. He is also a part time student at MSVU working on his sociology degree, but music is his first passion.
