Laid back vocals, thought provoking lyrics, and a “melting pot” of musical
compositions are the meat and potatoes of the pre-sophomore effort by Praiz’
entitled, P.R.I.D.E.
On this 7 song EP, Praiz’ delivers a trunk-rattling, R&B remake of “We Shall
Overcome” capable of leaving Peter Seeger fans shaking. “I Choose Life” will
leave rockers with their jaws on the floor and hearts on Christ. The
summertime classic bound, “Sista, Sista” will make women of all ages feel
appreciated. “Proud To Be Me,” a tribute to Rosa Parks and Martin L. King, Jr.,
will have kids feeling hip across the globe. P.R.I.D.E. is as pure and diverse as
it gets.
Filled with infectious hooks coupled with V’land’s trademark edgy, in-your-face
production, Praiz’ is able to combine the smarts of Kenneth “Babyface”
Edmonds with the boldness of Kirk Franklin. All while crafting a tightly
produced, hook-laden cross genre album appealing to gospel, contemporary
christian, and pop fans alike.
With his single “Deliver Me” in rotation on several of the most popular stations
across the country, Praiz’ show’s no sign of slowing down. “What’s important
to me is that people hear the message,” says Praiz’.” “My focus is on sharing
the gospel of Jesus Christ and making a difference in our community.”
P.R.I.D.E. is partially inspired by the motion picture Pride. “The movie
reminded me of growing up in St. Louis and learning to swim at the West End
Community Center across the street from my home. Being there kept me out
of trouble, most of the time. I hope to open a community center myself
someday. A place where I can share what was freely given to me.”
Here is an album that has no boundaries, and displays an abundance of love.
This is the album you crave after years of lifeless lyrics and explicit imagery.
This is the leader of change, Praiz’.
