Dr. L. Subramaniam, the global representative of Indian classical music and one of the finest bowmen of the century presents the art of South Indian classical music to the Trinidad audience. For the past five decades Dr. Subramaniam has been one of the most important carnatic music exponents and has recorded/performed with some of the biggest names in the classical tradition. He is also credited with several innovations in carnatic music both in terms of technique and music.

The first track is the very traditional and extremely intricate varnam in raga Bhairavi set to Ata tala, a 14 beat cycle divided as 5+5+2+2. Dr. Subramaniam performs this compositions in five different speeds by dividing the beat into different pulses.

The second track is a raga alapana, a free-style improvisation, in raga Mohana. This is a prelude to the composition in the third track.

The third track is a kriti in raga Mohana set to Adi tala, an 8 beat cycle divided as 4+2+2. This is a composition in praise of lord Ganesha.

The final track is a kriti in the rare raga Chintamani set to Adi tala. It is a composition of Shyama Shastri, who is one of the greatest composers in the Carnatic tradition. This is a song dedicated to the goddess Kamakshi.
