JAMEEL HAYES

Jameel Hayes is a product of his environment, growing up in a single parent household. It wasn’t easy being the oldest of three boys and being raised by his mother. Jameel took a life that could have easily been tragic or considered another statistic and turned it into a life with promise and potential. Growing up with a strong black mother taught him to be strong and allowed him to see life from a different perspective. Everything wasn’t just black or white, there were gray areas also, and the glass was never half empty but always half full.
Jameel started singing in high school at the age of 14. At 14, he had a tough road ahead of him. He had a tough decision to make; Jameel was a talented young man not only with singing but playing basketball. At that age all his friends played basketball and couldn’t understand why he liked singing, peer pressure. His first two years of high school he chose basketball over singing, keeping it as only a hobby. This hobby soon became a passion after being convinced to enter a local talent show. This young man always had the ability to tell a good story. He won the talent show with one of his stories. He wowed the audience with his original song and from that point on a “Star Was Born”.
After that show Jameel was approached by three guys that convinced him he was the missing piece to the group they were forming. These four guys hit it off immediately and after a month they were ready to put their talents on showcase. For the next 2 years they did local high school and college talent shows. Once these guys graduated from high school they stepped their game up to doing nightclubs and comedy shows and traveling to different states. These guys loved performing but their goal was obtaining a record deal. Within the next two years these guys heard many promises but never saw any results. The guys grew weary and quit.
Jameel knowing this was his destiny decided to push on and through his connections he made through the years formed another group. This group had potential written all over it, it was comprised of three guys and two ladies. Jameel served as the glue to keeping the group together but after a year and a half and not obtaining the success expected certain members decided to walk away. Again not wanting to relinquish his dream, he persevered on and decided that the problem was dealing with singers his age that wanted quick results minus the struggle.
This time around Jameel came across three older guys that were just as hungry and enthused about music like him. These guys came up with the perfect game plan to get into this music business but unfortunately for Jameel these guys were older and weren’t what labels were looking for. Their game plan was perfect for a younger group, the group barely lasted a year. These guys realizing their opportunity passed them by began to mentor Jameel not only on music but the music business. Jameel knew it was time to stand alone but he was so used to having a group backing him up. It took a lot of convincing by these men, but Jameel finally got it.
At 24 years old, Jameel is wise beyond his years and those gray areas he saw as a child he applies to his music and that’s what makes him unique. He’s able to take a great story and flip it from a male or female perspective. He’s able to write a song about things other than “shake your booty or smack it up, flip it, rub it down”. He can write a genuine ballad anyone can relate to and then flip to a street song telling the truth about his environment but in a positive way, minus the b*****s and h**s. Jameel is a breath of fresh air compared to 90% of what gets played on the radio today. Take a lot of energy and a soulful sound, mix that with the ability to tell a great story and what do you get?

JAMEEL A. HAYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(jah)
