The Seers
The Seers are a rock/folk/blues duo out of Fort Collins. Just a pair of local boys, Brian Collins (piano, drums, beat-box, vocals) and Sean Waters (guitars, vocals) draw from a repertoire/request-list of over 450 covers--two laminated copies of this five-page “menu” are available at every show—to engage and interact with live audiences. Consistently improving their already outstanding musicianship, range, and vocal harmony, The Seers are working to be one of the most entertaining “bar bands” in the Colorado Front Range. With a passion for writing and recording indie rock, classic rock, and folk rock in the singer-songwriter vein, the Seers' original music draws from the harmony-laden acoustic soul, electric blues, and piano rock that they perform three nights per week as an acoustic or electric duo.
Brian Collins has been blind from birth and has earned somewhat of a local legend status. Writing and performing songs for over twenty-five years, Collins now considers himself a full-time dad and musician. Collins has been making music with Waters for 13 years (they put a band together for a high school prom after-party), who also works as a composition and philosophy instructor at Colorado State University. Wasabi, their first band together, was voted “Best Jam Band” by Denver’s Westword (2007) and “Best Jam Band” by the Fort Collins Musicians Association (2007 and 2008).
When Wasabi disbanded in 2009, Collins and Waters, listening heavily to the Black Keys, Grizzly Bear, and My Morning Jacket, founded the Seers to chart new musical territory. Gradually experimenting with stripped-down arrangements, melodically-driven songs, and developing their singing talents, The Seers produced two EPs, “Universal Tree" (2010) and "Hydra" (2011). During that time, Waters and Collins also put together a giant book of classic and contemporary covers (489 total songs as of 7/17/2013), and using the repertoire request list, began playing three nights a week at weddings, parties, restaurants, bars, and markets (over 140 shows in 2013 alone). Their first full-length album, self-titled 'The Seers', will be released in their hometown Fort Collins on August 18th, 2013 in a New West Fest after-party at Avogadro's Number.
With a growing fanbase, schedule, and repertoire, The Seers are working to build more lucrative performance and recording careers based in the Colorado Front Range. With an awesome 2014 release in progress, the future is wide open. “Like” them at www.facebook.com/theseers. Listen at www.reverbnation.com/theseers.
