Middle Class Misery
Some of the songs I have written have been recorded by several different artists on major record labels. They include: "Too Many Honky Tonks On My Way Home", recorded by Tom Wopat for EPIC/Sony records; "Are You Lonesome", recorded by Johnny Taylor for Malaco Records; "Like A Rooster On A Hen", recorded by Little Milton for Malaco Records, and "Don't Gimme No Lip", recorded by Vicki Baker for Paula Jewel records. I am a member of ASCAP as a writer and as a publisher. "Ben Shaw Music" owns publishing rights to these songs as well as shares publishing rights with the record companies.
I am also a performing artist as leader of "The Ben Shaw Band"(www.benshawmusic.com) and as "solo" piano and vocal. My career spans forty something years beginning publicly at age twelve.
As for the song I am releasing now on "cdbaby" entitled "Middle Class Misery",........I wrote it in 1993 and played it at several festivals and clubs for years. Then I decided in 2014 to record it and release it on myself as artist and pitch it to other artists who may be interested in it. It's a song I consider relative to the hard times experienced by the "middle class" living and working in our country today.
