This Time
This is my first album in five years. They are all new songs. My thing is Celtic Country - Irish Music with a country beat/feel.
'Save My Soul' is about growing up in Ireland in a restrictive household and finding a way to break free! 'Paddy's Day' is a satirical take on the annual St Patrick's Day parade in New York. 'Austin Blues' is about missing home when far away; this song was inspired by Guy Clark's Dublin Blues. He was in Dublin on tour and he started missing Texas - I guess we all carry our home with us no matter where we go, and no matter how good or bad things are! 'Shouldn't Have Let You Go' is about regretting a relationship that has just ended - it comes from real Life. Now I'm glad this particular relationship ended, but at the time I was distraught, just like a teenager! 'All I Ever Do Is Put Me Down' is a kind of satirical, self-mocking song. The idea is, sometimes we are our own worst enemies in that we put ourselves down more than anybody else does. It's a Twist on The Mavericks' song, 'All You Ever Do Is Put Me Down'. 'Navan Girl' is a story about a teenage pregnancy and society's tendency to condemn Young people who had such accidents (at least that was the case when I was younger) . The album ends with 'Thanks' which is a song of Gratitude for an enduring friendship. I hope there is a song here that you like, and that enters your heart! Thanks for listening, and remember folks, keep it country! A big thanks to Gabriel Donohue for producing and playing on all of the tracks! He is the maestro!
