Burn With a Brighter Flame
The debut album from Andy Parker & the Internationales, Burn With A Brighter Flame is the latest in his series of instrumental guitar work - but these compositions will surprise fans of his three previous albums with some of their twists and variations. What's more, they all feature the excellent Internationales throughout. Featuring German keyboard maestro Chris Bihlmaier, Jamaican bass legend Andy Duncan, Mexican star percussionist and drummer Pedro Ortiz and glorious French chanteuse Julie Janet Chauffier, the Internationales display an effortless prowess and impeccable musical credentials.
The band has spent the summer locked away in the studio to produce what many consider to be a masterpiece, a classic of the genre, if you like - not a particularly easy genre to define, admittedly, being an enticing mixture of the blues, latin and dub reggae roots that they all share, but with this album the band have made that sound their own!
Two tracks have already been featured as singles in 2014, Moment In Time and Lala La Na-Na, picking up streams, downloads and radio play since they came out - but this CD features so much more than just those!
Whether it is the smooth lounge sound of the singles, the cool blues of Warped, the angular groove of Summat For Nowt, the changing moods of If I Wake Up Slowly, or the simply monumental sweep of Duncan's Blues as it builds up from sparse beginnings to a majestic climax, there is something to keep everyone entertained.
'This new line-up has given me a chance to develop another side to our repertoire,' Andy Parker said, during a recent interview. 'Having such a versatile band has just made it so much easier to expand the sound into other areas. My first two albums were very laid back and I wanted to create a calm, tranquil mood - a sound that people would listen to when they came back home, rather than before they went out! Since then, though, I've wanted to explore the instrumental form away from the shorter mood pieces I've previously written. I think we're all really pleased with the way that Burn With A Brighter Flame has come out - i know I am! It's is the best album I have recorded and I can't wait to get started recording some new tunes now!'
