Jaya Sacira Nandan

Jaya Sacira Nandan

I often prefer to run away from the hubbub of the city life into the villages of India where the true culture exists. Once while entering a temple in West Bengal I was drawn to the refrain of female voices - the typical Bengali style of singing. As it grew louder I found myself suddenly amidst a group of ladies who were singing in unison the glories of the Lord Shri Caitanya Mahaprahu. Their sound and devotion left a deep impression in my heart.
Jaya Sacira Nandan is an album that was a result of this impression. Some of they lyrics are in Bengali and some in Bangladesh language. Even if one doesn't understand the meanings, the rhythm will captivate your heart. While some of the compositions are traditional, I composed a few myself. In order to bring in the devotion naturally I chose to record the entire album live with traditional music instruments.
Banjo, Sarangi, tabla, and flute have added great flavor to the music.
While some of the compositions are slow and meditative, Track 3 and 8 will have you dancing in a circle! Track 5 in particular has brought tears to the eyes of many of my listeners.
The album was recorded way back in 2004 but I chose to offer it still online as the music is evergreen and always in demand. Happy listening and please do not leave without adding your comment.
