Altitudes
"Their sound is full and raw, but not overdone or aggressive. Those partial to Pavement or Dinosaur Jr. will be able to sink into Sleepy and the Noise’s sound right away, as they take us on a fun ride that is not only short and punchy, but also contains several moments of cunning lyricism and undaunted instrumentals." Ottawa Showbox, Sept. 26, 2016
Sleepy and the Noise is Christian Pasiak (vocals, guitars), Sarah Fitzpatrick (bass, vocals) and Kira Montfort (drums, vocals). The current lineup grew out of a solo acoustic project initiated by Pasiak who wanted to grow his sound by performing with other musicians in Canada's capital music scene. Kira joined the lineup shortly after she and Pasiak met at a multimedia arts show and Sarah and Kira met through their involvement as teachers at Ottawa Rock Camp for Girls; Sarah rounded out the trio in 2016. Altitudes is the band's debut E.P, recorded June 18-19, 2016 at Swell Studios in Ottawa by David Gervais (Mushy Gushy, The Gallop) who also mixed and mastered the album. Each member brings their own set of influences into the band creating a diverse sonic landscape, sometimes Beatle-esque, other times more reminiscent of grungier alternative rock bands of the 1990s.
