The Weather-side of a Downeast Home
JohnnyNoShoes have been performing together in southern, central and downeast Maine, as well as maritime Canada, for some five years now. With their debut release, The Weather-side of a Downeast Home, they feature the singing and songwriting of Patrick Cunningham. The band has a roots country/folk approach to song writing that is both rich and inviting. Featuring all acoustic instruments including upright bass, squeeze box accordion, mandolin, harmonica and of course guitar, the sound is expansive and approachable and the instrumentation makes for an enjoyable live performance. Cunningham’s songwriting is usually focused on the concept of place and location, starting with a scene for a story and continuing on to either tell that story or create complex metaphors of life’s challenges.
