Bring Some Friends
Like all good mountain liquor, Moonshine is best shared with friends. And that's how the band started, or perhaps we should say, evolved.
Stan DeWitt and Joe Lamanno met in the early 90's and played together in a popular folk trio called the Woodbys. After that, the two continued working together on Stan's solo records, "Long Day's Journey" (which garnered a Top 10 DIY nod from Performing Songwriter magazine in 2002), "Reaching Back," "Bend" and "Musical Moonshine."
Along the way, they were joined by Shar Higa (vocals), Anna Ford (violin), and Claudia Fitzpatrick (cello). When Darrell Barrett (drums, percussion) joined, they became known briefly as Stan DeWitt and Moonshine.
With the addition, however of songwriter Nathan Conn in 2011, and the emergence of songwriting prowess from Shar and her songwriting partner Robyn Javier, it was clear that this was now a group effort, and Moonshine was christened.
