Parents know that the worst thing about kids' records is that you get tired of them a lot quicker than your child does. That won't happen with "The Kids Record," featuring that unique and engaging blend of rock 'n' roll, country and swing that made the Tractors a multiplatinum-selling phenomenon. Here, "Uncle Steve" Ripley and the band tear into classics and new material alike with vigor, style, and good humor, serving up some great music without one bit of pandering. They start things off by rockin' "Old MacDonald" like he's never been rocked before, go on to introduce a new generation to the secret kids' language in "Pig Latin," and populate the vehicle in Wheels on the Bus" with an archetype or two undreamt of by the song's originators. By the time the youngsters have finished their gyrations to the disc's final tune, "Spin Around When They Dance," they'll be shouting to hear it again -- and for once, their folks'll be right in there with 'em.
