This is a collection of original vocal compositions. The performers are all professional jazz musicians, but the compositions stretch farther than one genre can encompass. Influences such as Charlie Parker, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Dave Brubeck, Django Reinhardt, Dan Hicks, and even the Beatles and the Grateful Dead can be heard on various tracks, yet Orbis has a consistent and appealing sound all it's own.

The co-leaders of Orbis, world class instrumentalists Tom Shader (acoustic bass) and Bill DeKuiper (hollow body guitar), occasionally sing lead, but most often present close vocal harmonies that bend and support the amazing work of phenomenal lead vocalist Jacquie Godden. Woodwind virtuoso Jeff Sanford's solos are innovative and exciting, while groove master Kevin Dillon provides his own creative drum breaks to Orbis' sound which can be both surprising and accessable.
