This is listening fun for both children and adults!
Below is a little introduction to these beloved nursery rhymes.
1. A Farmer Went Trotting - in the spirit of the original nursery rhyme, this song has a repetitive "bumpity bump" and "lumpity of lump" that sets the beat for the song.
2. Good King Arthur - The song has an almost regal medieval feel to it. Like a good steward, Good King Arthur doesn't waste the left overs.
3. Hot Cross Buns - A fun and rocked out version of the traditional rhyme. You gotta love those Hot Cross Buns ... if your daughters don't like them ... give them to your sons.
4. Jenny Shall Have a New Bonnet - It is reminiscent of a 60s love song, but we find out that it is all about a fathers love for his daughter.
5. Little Bo-Peep - This song captures of the emotion of Little Bo-Peep who clearly has a lot to learn about being a shepherdess.
6. A Man Went Hunting At Reigate - A fun and strange little song; there is a lesson here about being a good neighbor.
7. Miller, Dickery, Molly - This is a combination of four different nursery rhymes: "There was a Jolly Miller", "Dickery Dickery Dare", Dickery Dickery Dock", and "Molly My Sister."
8. The Moon Does Shine - This ominous sounding hymn and nursery rhyme seems to be tempting children away from their homes. There is a lesson in there somewhere.
9. Old Mother Goose - An upbeat version of this beloved nursery rhyme. It expounds upon the adventures of Old Mother Goose and her son Jack.
10. Old Mother Hubbard and Her Dog - You will never find a more talented dog or devoted owner.
11. Solomon Grundy - This song is short but it packs a powerful thought provoking message on the shortness of human life.
12. There Was an Owl -- This is a combination of two nursery rhymes: "There was an Owl" and "Humpty Dumpty". Although somewhat nonsensical - it seems perfect for the blues guitar and organ.
13. To Market, to Market - Hey, why not sing about a trip to the market?
14. Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star - Enjoy this big bass version of this beloved nursery rhyme (with all the verses). It seems almost philosophical.
15. The Walrus and the Carpenter - Enjoy this dreamy version of the story of this unlikely pair who turn have ulterior motives; it is a nice lesson on being wary of strangers.
16. Tom Thumb's Alphabet - Learn your ABC's blue-grass style!
17. Who Stole the Bird's Nest? - Listen along as the many animals on a farm try to discover who stole Red Robin's nest. It feels like a sad sappy love song.
18. Wing Wang Waddle Oh - You might imagine yourself in an Irish pub as you hear the performer make many bad financial choices with his inheritance.
