The trio was formed on April 4, 2011 during the Academy of Country Music's broadcast of a "Girls' Night Out" special. The trio released its debut album, Hell on Heels, on August 23, 2011 via Columbia Records. Ian Drew of Us gave the album three stars, saying "The country trio get spunky on the honky tonk-style ditties". It received four stars from Matt Bjorke of Roughstock, who thought that it had "sassiness and a spark".
