The Sam Willows
The Sam Willows, made up of siblings Benjamin and Narelle Kheng and their friends Jon Chua and Sandra Riley Tang, burst onto the Singapore music scene in May 2012 with their luscious harmonies and special brand of soul-folk, creating a solid buzz across the island-state. In the short time since then, they’ve amassed more than millions of views with more than 50,000 subscribers on their YouTube page. The quartet’s self-titled freshman EP was co-produced by esteemed local arranger Bang Wenfu, recorded and mixed at Soundfarm Studios and mastered at Oasis Mastering in Burbank, CA. It was released to rave reviews on 27 October 2012 at their sold-out album launch party, held at the popular local bar and concert venue, TAB Singapore. The Sam Willows are supported by SHURE, Wing Tai Asia and Rockstar Mansions by Ebenex. They were also Gibson’s Artist of the Month, October 2012; local radio station 987FM’s Rising Star (January 2013); and the winners of the m:idea Youth Choice Award 2013 in the band category. Their recent local appearances include Singapore’s largest media network’s New Year’s Eve countdown event, “Celebrate 2013” at The Float at Marina Bay, Singapore, the official opening of Resorts World Sentosa in 2012, Music Matters 2013 and the F1 Grand Prix 2013.
