Never Been Hurt is about new beginnings. Lyrically it explores the themes of heart break, resilience and learning to fall in love again. Symbolically, it also represents a new beginning for Sugar Jesus (aka Andrei Basirov), once again producing under his own moniker. For the past 6 years Basirov has been behind the scenes - producing, remixing and writing for big name artists and also penning the theme to ITV2’s ‘Love Island’.

The song is a collaboration between Basirov, Kaia McTernan and Christopher Blacc. It fuses UK RnB/Soul with a hypnotic slow-jam electronic twist. Kaia’s warm moody vocals saunter from anguish to euphoria building up to an epic climax at the last chorus as she belts “So I can love you like I’ve never been hurt”.
