Plattenbank swings back into action with lucky release number 13, once again bringing a fresh sampling of sounds from the vibrant Tel-Aviv underground with a three-track EP from DJ and production act Red Axes. Formerly known under the moniker Red Cotton, this trio has spent the recent years slowly coming to the forefront of the Tel-Aviv nightlife, whether it be on the decks, in the studio, or more recently through their regular live performances. Their most recent success saw them recognized as runners up in Beatport’s Yellow remix contest for their collaborative deep-house reworking of the classic “Bostich” with Zidan Style of Moshic & Zidan fame. A heavy slate of further upcoming releases will see their stature and worldwide impact on dancefloors only continue to grow. “It’s Gonna Rain” contrasts its name by setting a sunny environment where a thick bassline lays the groundwork for an easygoing melody to gently embark on an elegantly emotional voyage. A collection of added facets in the sound spectrum float their way in and out of the main drive of the track, giving it a crisp level of detail to stand out as a different class above the rest. “Kuchina Dancers” sees the trio throwing the might behind a soft yet funky tech-house number that will work its magic on the floor, grabbing the attention with a peculiar assemblage of sounds that weave their way amongst each other to constitute a tricky underlying harmony. The slow & steady “Club Piano” crosses over into nu disco territory, with a lounge atmosphere and instrumental arrangement that reveals the heavy influence of Red Axes’ affection for the live performance setting. “Die Bank” is the largest bar in Munich, well known for its unique indie style and the countless talented DJs who got their start as well as the famous Munich DJs who regularly entertain its crowds.
