On 31 January 2009 in the Zankel Hall in the Carnegie Hall New York, one concert in the series Extremely Hungary was dedicated jointly to the works of György Ligeti and György Kurtág. This disc contains the live recording of the Carnegie Hall concert. (Also played at the concert were Kurtágʼs cimbalom piece Szálkák [Splinters], available on an earlier BMC release by Ildikó Vékony [BMC CD 46], and Ligetiʼs song cycle Síppal, dobbal, nádihegedűvel [With Pipes, Drums, Fiddles], which has been released, in a version by Katalin Károlyi and the Amadinda Percussion Group, as The Ligeti Project no. 3 on the Teldec label.)
