I first got turned on to Cris Cab by my son who shared Cris' Echo Boom mixtape with me last spring. Since then, I have tracked down all of his music (not all that easy to do) and awaited his new EP with keen anticipation. Cris Cab has an easy reggae-ish style that just pulls you in. He has obviously impressed many in the industry given who has appeared on his songs (e.g., B.o.B. and Wyclef Jean). While Rise is not consistently as great as some of the songs on Echo Boom or Foreword, the songs are still quite good and worthy of a listen. If Cris keeps up the sort of songwriting and singing that he has to date, I believe that he will be a breakout star in the near future.
