It's spotlighted on the unaccompanied second take of the title track, where Waldron's opening and major solo are played with a somber, introspective flair, as he slowly constructs his statement. There are elegant left-hand movements and answering right-hand rhythms, and his interpretation is ultimately satisfying and memorable. A less demonstrative, but still quite enjoyable, Mal Waldron date.
