With "Outworld 001", the Berlin-based artist Klangkuenstler sets the tone for his new label venture of the same name, delivering a blueprint of techno that is futuristic in feel, yet firmly rooted in the analogue aesthetics of its heritage. In consequence, Outworld embodies a timelessness, which runs parallel to its mission statement – to take the listener deep into the outer realms and beyond.
Klangkuenstler's own stellar contribution, 'Supernova', is central to this essence, both in name and sound: the textured, high-velocity drum programming bursts with energy and propels the track forward relentlessly, while a transcendental synth dances amidst eerie pads and a squelching acid bass-line.
'The Evolution', by Manchester's Rudosa, also reaches for a higher sphere by way of a crystalline, ever-morphing lead that stretches towards infinity in its climax. Rumbling underneath, heavily pounding drums add balance, while acting equally hypnotic.
