Freefall / LTM

‘Freefall’ gets two remixes, the first of which being a four to the floor, tech house journey from Sonarpilot himself, reworking Jonny Miller’s original track and giving it a new, more industrial direction. The second remix comes from Oakland based artist and DJ Armon Bazile, also known as Aybee. His long standing collective of ‘Deepblak’ music producers have transcended the genres over the last ten years with Aybee’s solo tracks covering many bases. You’ll hear Techno, dark jazz and soul in his music and his productions always have a warm, rootsy undertone winning him fans the world over. This has naturally led to a string of solid remixes for artists like Jus Ed, Paul Randolph and most notably house music mainstay Atjazz, on his recent Mist Works release. Aybee locks into a deep percussive groove from the off on his Freefall remix, the original’s tight arpeggio synth plays throughout and peaceful chords eventually shift the track to a final, resolute theme.

The dubwise cut ‘LTM’ rounds of the EP. Defying basic genre the track features a soulful, vocoder style vocal line, high impact tribal drums and deep bass textures. On remix duty here is a young Russian producer by the name of Alexander Leyfa, known in production circles as Lay-Far. Fresh from his superb debut release ‘A piece Of Devotion’ on the Shanti label earlier in 2011, Lay-Far’s remix of LTM is aimed squarely at the dance floor. Bright and shuffling disco drums, there are dashes of broken beat and a distinct jazz flavour will no doubt appeal the track to fans of Mr Scruff, Quantic and Jazzanova.
