Not Sayin’ Names is the first release for Pittsburgh-born singer/songwriter Anna Hazo who recorded the EP at age 16 and released it at 17. Hazo’s distinctive, soulfully rich vocals and artistic shaping envelop every track. Additionally, she holds songwriting and production credits with assistance from her father, a fellow ASCAP writer. Noticing the musical trends of mega-artists such as Bruno Mars, JT, and Lady Gaga to create fresh sounds while occasionally nodding to 70s or 80s vibes, Anna devised such a niche for the teenage artist. Regarding the creative process, she said, “Finding a cool ear-candy sound and building a hook around it may grab people’s attention, but crafting a song with enough layers to keep their attention is a much harder challenge.”
