Lucents assault on the UK Bass scene has been heavy, racking up releases on Trouble & Bass, Saucy and 3000 Bass. Not to mention collaborations with such heavy hitters as AC Slater. All of this goes to show that not only has the dance floor taken notice of this young bass mechanic, but so has the wider bass music community. We are proud to welcome him to the Hot Cakes family and present to you his debut EP. First up is House To The Ground. An old school piano riff sets the tone for what turns in to a bouncy wompy bass line led number. Lucent lets the percussion do the talking on the top end and keeps the energy high throughout even through the breakdowns. Give Me has a breakier vibe with a swinging drum beat that never seems to let up. Lucents ability to let the bass line speak is felt in this one, as with each progression the bassline seems to open up more and more keeping things fresh and funky. Turn The Volume finishes the EP strong with the most high-energy tune of the package. The pitched synth that brings you into the drop prepares you for a nasty bass drop that has peak hour written all over it. And as always these are ones to play through as each turn has a new surprise to keep you dancing.
