London label Intelligent Audio is proud to present the first original solo material from Nigel Hayes in over 5 years.

In customary IA fashion the release is split into two 12' releases, one focused on House/Techno and the other allowing the artist to explore their full creativity with a more eclectic selection. IA1.4 sees Nigel providing 4 tracks in the Deep/Tech House area while IA2.4 is a blend of Afro-Beat, Nu Jazz and Broken Beat.

Nigel Hayes' last outings were the critically acclaimed albums '....but is it art?' and 'it's your move' on Sunshine Recordings from Vienna. Both LPs incorporated complex arrangements, featuring numerous live musicians, skillfully blended with Nigel's ear for electronica and what works equally well on the dancefloor and in more chilled environments.

After taking some time out following the albums, Nigel engaged in some remix work including going head to head with Tom Middleton on two monster remixes of Francois DuBois' 'Blood' for Urban Torque - a release which became one of the biggest dancefloor rockers of 2006. He has also remixed Motivators, Funkanala and Jobu for the much respected Here and Now Recordings as well as Ibile & Ade Sose for B**ches Brew, taking Afro-Beat in a new direction.

Nigel and Lars Sandberg (aka Funk D'Void and Francois DuBois) have recently started studio production work together again as Chaser (they were previously signed to Soma from 1995-2005), and have released the massive 'Bite the Bullet / Odysseys Return' EP on Urban Torque, which received a fantastic response from A-list DJs.

Since the early projects as Chaser for Soma Recordings, Nigel has always tried to blend live instrumentation with electronica and with this release he indulges his passion for both. The tracks on IA1.4 straddle the boundary of Deep and Tech house, with huge subby basslines providing a foundation for urgent beats and driving percussion, tempered by warm yet gritty synths and sweeping pads. IA2.4 really allows Nigel to demonstrate his love of instruments, incorporating live bass, guitars, horns and violin into an eclectic blend of Afro-Beat (Afro Jack) Broken Beat (Slow Burn), Nu Jazz (Abusin It) and experimental electronica (August Night).

The mastering on this project has been done by the brilliant Michael Cliffe aka Evoke Music.
