Scatwalk

Scatwalk

*Ah the moon .....what an inspiration ! A fitting portrayal of Scatwalk content*
In Scatwalk's unassuming and basic story/rock songs you hear the joy of creative bondage once again
Not over produced to metronome, it is new music with beat and it all flows like a river right off the guitar strings into the recording
There is no fixing or manipulating
The notion that the heart of rock and roll still beats and that it can be captured by the mind of an independent solo artist is very evident here
Bravo for the guitar playing sentinel from Ontario once again with songs about wild living and fun in the moonlit northern nights.
Scatwalk reminds us about some of the fun from days past and present that we miss sometimes especially under the big ole moon that we all share from our different perspectives.
Song: "Spanish guitar" Tones penned with conscience and sentiment for south of the US border musicians that would love to be able to just travel freely across the land with their style of Spanish rock. This being a good reason to howl one out at the moon!
The House on Cliff St. is a glimpse into the life in the Humber Valley,Weston neighborhood where Tones went to school in the formative years.
Scatwalk the CD
It is so full of musical hooks and melody through out with a style of writing and arrangement departing deliberately from commercial formula that you will find yourself smiling your appreciation for this effort alone. Tones music as basic and true as it can be is a brave undertaking in the face of large budget music industry gloss over productions. Not a daydreamer Tones goes nocturnal when day work lifts and provides a break for writing. The writing turns quickly to recording as the guitar arrangements begin to take shape and the outline of a song is then recorded and put to words. There are not multitudes of people involved in the process from start to finish. Tones plays many instruments, uses a basic drum kit and a digital library for synth and percussion as well as real percussion with various maracas, rain sticks, tambourine, shakers, and writes the lyrics
Sandy Chochinov plays fretless bass on Scatwalk and other Tones recordings
A word from TONES
"Change is inevitable. And we will, all of us.
To hear a fresh approach in the midst of all the commercialism is what I try to do with my song writing.
You have something different to look forward to in each song and even as background music Scatwalk colors the air this way

With renaissance in the back beat Scatwalk beats forward into 2012 with an easy flow of unsophisticated guitar and vocal fusion
You will hear synthesizers and piano, some wild guitar solo, and vocal harmony
We all need change is why there is the term NEW - MUSIC ....And so.......fellow indie music lovers you are here searching perhaps because of a need for something a little less mainstream.
Quite right you think? as you put on your favorite old shoes and discover they are worse for wear, then decide to get new ones....music is the same. One day you just need a change
Scatwalk .....the charm is in the song and the idea of the song from the back porch writer to you" Simplified basic production.

Scatwalk has a few tracks that spawned from riff rock to grunge, and acoustic guitar story songs where the acoustic is complimented by wild electric that will peel your mind open but you'l like it!
It is a quality effort in the song writing and composition
It has no repetitious beat box tracks at all
If you want that just turn to radio or tv commercials and go mindless a few minutes at a time.
Tones music will not go there.
It seams that business has practically wiped out the innocence and magic of the natural song writer by way of money for popular spin
Except Tones does not subscribe to the popularity loop, but instead tries to remain as retro as possible in a sense that the music is undirected by producer or label demanding something that sells.
Tones music has no gimmicks or lamenting disposition in the content
This music is actually music!
You own a song that you buy...... for life
For less than the cost of a cup of tea
Scatwalk is a real deal for sure from an artist well honed and at ease with his instruments.
Each track a diamond in the rough for style and melody
It is not perfection or glam that Tones strives for in music
It is just the joy of each song in its own existence with its own flow unaffected by what is popular for the moment on current radio trend playlists.
Tones thanks you for having a mind to search indie music and hopes the enchantment lasts for you while he's working on some new tracks to help once again feed our fevers
"Enjoy my Scatwalk CD ....I do"
