Mixed Signals
The first song on the album begins with a choir of strings playing the same chord that the last song on the first album played. Nada's Psychotropic Nightmare continues at the half-mark with a structural breakdown: this marks the first truly experimental music that Shades of Blue has published. The next two songs are both rock oriented; although the band wrote these new songs as a progressive step forward in their own interpretation of the genre. The fourth song lays out the framework for a side-project that Christian Sanchez (guitar, piano) and Tommy O'Hallaran (bass) are involved in; this song was written primarily by the two, with blues influences from Colin McLaughlin (l. guitar). "For You" is the one and only truly acoustic song on the album and precedes "Broken Glass" - a fully developed acoustic song with multiple additional influences. Song seven, entitled "Prime Bull", was inspired by a nick name Christian came up for Thomas Pribyl (drums). Moving with that theme Thomas recorded a solo track of drum beats; he recorded this song following three sleepless nights. Songs eight and nine are back with the rock interpretation - both songs were written by Colin with lyrical help on "Good Lady" by Christian. The last song is the title track of the album "Mixed Signals". This song is meant to act as the closing chapter in this album. A wider array of different interpretations are used throughout the entire album, and a title track name like "Mixed Signals" is characteristic of the diversity. We hope you enjoy the adventure of music as much as we do, thank you for being fans:)
