TAPE formed in 2008 when vocalist/keyboardist Toby Rothwell and drummer Andy Gill met over Music Technology lectures at Lancaster University. After one or two tweaks to the line-up, they settled with Sean Millar on guitar and fan-turned-bandmate Charlotte Watts on bass, the latter learning the entire set in one day following the unexpected loss of her predecessor!
A very contemporary band, they draw influence from the likes of TV on the Radio, Secret Machines and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but also citing inspiration as far flung as Nine Inch Nails, Boards Of Canada and My Bloody Valentine, perhaps just about audible with obvious attention paid to the detailed textures.

The future is bright for TAPE. Having graduated from university, they embark upon a joint migration to London, where the streets are paved with gold and, more importantly, record labels. This won't be the last you hear of them!
