The End

The End

Since 2009, Apocalypse Five and Dime has been Brooklyn's premier roots/bluegrass/punk/stomp six-piece. Squeezing dance grooves and heartbreak out of a banjo, ukulele, bass drum, tuba, fiddle, saxophone and four voices. In 2013, they played their final live shows and put the finishing touches on this, their final album.

Previous reviews:

“Apocalypse Five and Dime have delivered a three-song gem of an EP (Every Morning) that will stir the soul.” — Midnight Calling

“twisted, intense bluegrass/Balkan” — New York Music Daily

“This (Ballads for the End Times) is an unplugged, joyous romp, both sweetly nostalgic and bracingly current, redolent of gypsy caravans, candlelit squats, righteous urban street preaching, even postmodern bedroom boasting.” — Chronogram Magazine

“This Brooklyn-based ragtime-punk septet yes, you read that correctly is kind of like a no-fi version of acoustic punkgrass darlings the Avett Brothers, with a tuba.” — Seven Days

“With tones and tunes of Chinese theater music, banjo plucking, and the essence of an Extra Action Marching Band, Apocalypse Five and Dime somehow manages to transport you to a darkly lit circle around a campfire and an abandoned 1920′s circus stage all at once.” — Thrillcall

“Their upcoming album Ballads of the End Times promises to be another winning entry in the canon of Eastern European-influenced rockers like Gogol Bordello and DeVotchKa.” – Cover Me

“For a dark yet stirring musical foray into a past as it should have been, and which perhaps actually does exist somewhere within us, “Ballads for the End Times” is just the ticket.” – Midnight Calling

“between DeVotchKa and Americana, hysterical fun” – The Tune, in their “Gold Medal” review of our single, My Love.
