Artist Biographies:

Audiences and critics around the world have come to appreciate the Swedish born tenor LEIF ARUHN-SOLÉN for his beauty of voice and fine interpretations. At home in both opera and oratorio, he has a particular interest in the music from the early Baroque period through Mozart. His many operatic appearances include Haydn’s “L’infideltà delusa” and “Le Pescatrici,” Mozart’s “Zaïde” and “Don Giovanni,” Rameau’s “Les Paladins,” Gassmann’s “L’Opera Seria” and Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” as well as Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” and “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.” On the concert stage Leif Aruhn-Solén has performed both as the evangelist and the tenor soloist in Bach’s Passions and “Christmas Oratorio.” Other often performed tenor solos have included Bach’s “Mass in B minor,” Handel’s “Messiah” and Mozart’s “Requiem.” Leif Aruhn-Solén studied vocal performance from 1994 to 1998 at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. In 2001 he earned the Artist Diploma from Oberlin College (Ohio, USA), having studied with renowned professor Richard Miller.

Hailed by the critics as “Atlanta’s most adventurous early music ensemble” (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution), NEW TRINITY BAROQUE is recognized as one of the leading period instrument ensembles in the USA. Founded by Predrag Gosta in London in 1998, and now based in Atlanta (Georgia, USA), New Trinity Baroque was initially established as an ensemble of international musicians, and they continue to maintain this presence through working closely with American and international artists (past soloists include British soprano Evelyn Tubb, Dutch recorder virtuoso Marion Verbruggen, American violinist Ingrid Matthews as well as British violinist John Holloway, and others). Always seeking variety, New Trinity Baroque’s repertoire ranges from chamber to orchestral, from cantatas to operas, and its styles from Renaissance to Classical. Their CD albums range from Baroque favorites such as Henry Purcell’s “Dido & Aeneas,” Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater,” Violin Concertos by Bach or Monteverdi’s “Selva Morale e Spirituale” to works by Classical composers such as Mozart and Haydn, or Renaissance composers such as Palestrina and recently discovered master Francesco Portinaro.
