THE HANG


The Hang was invented and developed in Bern, Switzerland by PANArt. Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer first introduced the Hang at the Frankfurt Music Fair In the spring of 2001. PANArt has a long history of making steel Instruments and pioneered a nitriding technique for hardening the steel that it uses. The inspiration for the Hang came when a percussionist looking for new sounds visited the Steel Pan builders at PANArt. The builders realized they could put two pan-like shells together to create a steel Instrument with a full, resonant sound. But the Hang is not solely of musical interest; it offers a wealth of interesting physics that makes it rich for acoustical study. The magical sound comes from the vibration of the steel, its special way of tuning it presents those etheric overtones by touching the Instrument on the surface. The Hang is handmade and during its tuning process it needs 100% of attention, knowledge and
dedication to get this special frequented sound and harmonic tones. A new musical dimension was opened up. The hand ventured to the metal, and the sound gained in depth.


CHRISTIAN AMIN VARKONYI

Independent Musician. Amin was born 1985 in Vienna, he first learned the techniques and rhythms of Afro cuban music from his Father, a professional Conga teacher.
Since 2005 he taught himself of autodidact throat singing and the art of playing the Hang. During two years of work with children Amin began to understand music as a universal language that goes beyond linguistic comunication and devoted himself totally
to his inner joy for music and played concerts all around Europe, Mexico and Ecuador. Amin founded the music platform and label „HEARTBEAT Music“ with an international focus to use music as a bridge between human life and cosmic understandings toward the unity of all world cultures. Amin focuses on the positive power of sound to tune collective energy fields of groups, out to courts and places in nature in order to
enable ancient wisdom and individual forces within every living organism naturally through music and creative freedom.

Amin´s debut Album „Hang Sphere“ contains a 42 minutes long improvisation for melodic Hang and throat singing accompained with spheric Instruments and Percussive beats. Also you will find 5 Compositions with Guitar and Accordeon, alined with smooth drum beats, fine electronic sounds in an uplifting nautral ambient.

• THE JOURNEY (Heartbeat Music 2010)
Amin´s second CD is a documentation of a 5 month long healing journey through Mexico to old tempels of Mayan culture. Special Music to reactivate ancient wisdom of the Mayas in the World. The CD was recorded with the mexican sound healer Luis Mendez during live concertsand healing celebrations at sacred places.
Instruments: Hang, Didgeridoo, Occarina, Chomus and Synth.
