Supporting Musicians, and Promoting Awareness of the Arts-

All proceeds from Opening Windows, Volume 5 will be donated to Music Aid Northwest, a organization whose charter is to provide funds for people in need by bringing business and community organizations together with the talent and resources of the Northwest music industry.

The History of "Opening Windows" -

Since its inception in 2007, Opening Windows has served as a creative outlet for Microsoft employees and contractors to showcase their artistic talents and give back to their community. The idea to bring together a compilation of work by a diverse group of artists was spearheaded by Jim Owen, a veteran Microsoft employee and musician. Prior to the 2007 Giving Campaign, Jim identified an opportunity to bring together the Microsoft artistic community in the spirit of Giving. With the help of fellow musicians and other Microsofties, Opening Windows was launched and has continued to be a popular offering that many look forward to during the annual campaign.
