Big Picture
Big Picture, Owl's debut owlbum, is a musical adventure. It sometimes teeters on the line between rock (Behind the Screen, A Taste of Nothing) and metal (Moonstruck, Her Twin), but is always progressive in nature. The music was originally written and recorded entirely by two people: Bruce Vermett, on drums, programming, iPad, and vocals, and myself (Tim Chimes) on bass, guitars, vocals, and growls, over the span of about a year. Bruce and I had originally attempted vocals, but that was never supposed to be final (although my vocals did stay for Just You). Near the end of mixing, vocalist Brad Babcock (a drummer originally) stepped and delivered an amazing vocal performance that absolutely blew us away. Though he can sing pretty well, we still felt that it was a good idea to have me do the growls for some of the more aggressive sections (Soul Control, Moonstruck). Bruce even still has a vocal part near the end of Her Twin (he's singing through a vocoder). In the end, I'm glad we went with Brad, because
