Lauren Copley achieved considerable success in the 70s as a teenage singer and recording artist in South Africa, having several hit singles, receiving two Gold discs and representing her country at age 15 years at the 1973 Tokyo Music festival.

With music critics describing her as a ‘rare happening in music’ and ‘the country’s most promising star’, Lauren became the youngest recording artist in South Africa when her debut record album 'Seven years older than four' was released when she was only 11 years old.

In her teens, Lauren had several hit songs including 'Kentucky Blues', 'Flower of Life' and 'It’s too late now'. She worked with top South African musical talent including Mutt Lange and Trevor Rabin.

At age 15 Lauren was selected as one of only 20 out of a thousand international singers to compete at the second Tokyo World Music Festival in Japan in 1973.
