"Lenkkodek: Open My Ears" brings together two acclaimed Canadian artists, whose combined love of cultural music traditions has thrust them onto the world stage for the past 20 years. Lenka Lichtenberg’s rich vocabulary of Eastern European and Middle Eastern traditions, combines with producer and remixer Eccodek’s musical love of India, Fiji, Mali, Turkey, Nigeria, Rwanda and beyond. Here, Eccodek (aka Andrew McPherson) uses his immense studio craft to reframe 4 of Lenka’s most powerful songs. The two, however, were not content to just reinterpret the past and so set about creating a new piece for this release. The result, ‘Still Hopeful’, is a haunting, heart-opening call to optimism in these disillusioned times.
