Tea & Trees

It is very rare that you come across a renaissance artist that encompasses all forms of art in totality. Washington, D.C. native Yero a is fresh face emerging out of the city’s Ward 7 southeast area, an area plagued with violence over the past three decades. Born into a musical home, Yero’s father Clinton McIntyre was a performing artist and accomplished writer for artists such as Roberta Flack, Jean Carne, and The Whispers. He is also the nephew of the late great Al Johnson, lead singer of 60’s soul group The Unifics. Yero began his tenure in the official music business as a professional drummer at the age of twelve in the gospel circuit eventually playing alongside some of the gospel greats like Whitney Phipps, the late Donald Vails, and V. Michael McKay. Yero also played in a few go-go bands in the inner city as a percussionist.
His love for music led him to an internship at the internationally known Radio ONE music station WKYS with The Live Squad. There he learned the functions of the music business in relation to radio.
Yero went to Montgomery College with a major in Theater Arts. He immediately began acting in the scene in Baltimore with Pat Moran Casting. He landed roles on Homicide, Liberty Heights directed by Barry Levinson, WB’s show “Young Americans”, and The Corner directed by Charles S. Dutton. Life has it’s ups and downs and the passing of Yero’s mother from breast cancer during his second year of school prompted his leaving school and heading straight for Hollywood. Upon arrival Yero began to immerse himself in every area of entertainment possible. He attained a production deal through former Vice President of Qwest Records, Ian Alexander. He also began writing a comedy film with longtime family friend and comedian Rodney “Red” Grant. Yero and Red worked daily and eventually brought the full production of the movie “Family Reunion” to the D.C. area. The movie was shot and picked up eventually for distribution through Artisan. Yero also starred in the film alongside comedic greats like Bebe Drake, Reynoldo Rey, Joe Claire, and Michael Colyar. He also got his hands into the videogame world teaming up with BMI award winning producers The Stereotypes to record the theme song for “ATV Blazin Fury 4” for SONY Playstation.
Yero began recording and performing at many venues in Los Angeles like B.B. Kings, The Knitting Factory, The Key Club and many more. He also honed his comedic acting skills doing stand up comedy on some of the greatest stages like The Improv, The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, and even abroad at the Acapulco Black Film Festival. He also performed every year for the juveniles and at risk youth of Los Angeles’s gang ridden communities through DCFS. His passionate songs of inner city life would bring the thugs to tears. Yero began writing for other artists as well. He teamed up with comedian Mike Epps to write and produce “Funny Bidness” Mike’s first comedy rap album. Yero also worked closely with RCA recording artist CJ Hilton penning a few R & B songs for his projects. One of those songs, yet to be released, was recorded by R&B star Mario. Yero also created the theme song for the Tribeca Film festival documentary “Born To Lead”, the Sal Aunese story.
Yero got his hands into production as well producing for local acts and eventually producing the remix to Bone Thugs and Harmony’s “Rebirth” through Warner Brothers Records. He also did production for former Ruthless Records artist Hopsin.
Nothing is built overnight and gratefully he had his father to keep him mindfull as to what patience can award you in this business. With all this accomplished Yero feels that he is only beginning and is ready to take his artistry to the next level. He wrote and produced three independent albums: Hurry Up and Wait, Back Against The Wall, and Only The Strong Survive. He also recorded three mixtapes :Live Or Die Volume One and (E.O.M.L.) Episodes of My Life, and the latest Blessings & Lessons. Yero is an artist's artist! His musicianship and range of music is wide and vast. Yero has a played every genre of music from marching in the inaugural parade of President Bill Clinton, to playing the Kennedy Center with the concert jazz band, to playing for some of the most acclaimed gospel artists, to laying a fertile ground in Hip-Hop, to playing for local Go-Go bands....Yero is ALL MUSIC INCLUSIVE. The sky is the limit for this artist. A humbling road it has been for this young composer. It is more than safe to say he has a lot to offer. The rest will be written by history.
